  • 1986 Best paper award,  IEEE "International Conference on Computers and Design - VLSI in Computers", ICCD-86, New York, Oct.6-9, 1986.
  • 1991 Laureate of the Royal Academy of Belgium (Koninklijke Academie van Belgie) in the Class of Sciences.
  • 1995 International Federation of Information Processing – "IFIP Silver Core" award
  • 1996 ED&TC'96 Best ASIC Award - The European Design and Test Conference (Nowadays called DATE-conference)
  • 1997 Winner of the - The European IT Prize - for the development of the SmartPen. Certificate together with cash prize of 5,000 Euro. Award by Mr. Jacques Santer,  president of the European Commission.
  • 1997 Grand Prize Winner 1997 - "The European Information Technology Prize" - for the development of the SmartPen.
    The European IST Prize is the most  distinguished Prize for innovative  products and services in the field of  Information Society Technologies in the European Union.

    Trophee presented by EU president Jacques Santer at the European IT Conference, 25 November 1997, Brussels, together with a cash prize of 200,000 Euro. 
    The price is organized by The European Council of Applied Sciences, Technologies and Engineering, with the sponsorship and support of the IST Programme of the European Commission. It is selected by the Academies of Sciences of greater Europe. The Prize is open to companies or  organisations that present an innovative IT product
